Finding a job can be a stressful, time consuming and, at times, discouraging. This year especially, many Americans will agree that finding a job can feel like an impossible task. We are here to tell you that it is not impossible. All it takes it some planning, research and most importantly, motivation!
Join Job Search Groups on Facebook
Facebook has a plethora of groups that post new jobs in your area all the time. You can even post something in the group yourself explaining your skills and what you are looking for, that way you can receive suggestions and feedback from others in the group. These groups are a great way for you to explore legitimate employment options in your area and make connections with other people who are also searching!
Socialize with Employed Friends
Talking about your job search struggles with an employed friend may just help. Your friend can offer advice and even ask their supervisors if they are hiring or if they know anyone who is hiring.
Register with a Staffing Agency
When you register at a staffing agency, a team of recruiters work to match you with a job that their company is hiring for. A staffing agency receives requests from local businesses for employment, and then looks in their system for the perfect employee for their client. At TPI Staffing Service, we encourage everyone to register, even if they aren’t sure what they want. Registration is free, and the only thing you need to bring in is two forms of identification and a can-do attitude! It’s as easy as visiting our office at 320 W Maple Ave. in Enid OK or 215 N 3rd St in Ponca City OK. You can also follow our Facebook pages for daily job openings and updates!
Take a Break
While it is important to job search every day. Never taking a break can make the process much harder than it needs to be. Do the things that make you happy, take a walk, hang out with your friends, cook a good meal or call a parent or mentor. Take at least one day out of the week where you don’t worry about your job search.
Set Goals
Make a list of short-term and long-term goals, like “In 2 weeks I want to get an interview somewhere,” or, “In 1 year I want to have a full-time job with great benefits.” These goals will help keep you motivated. Write them down on a piece of paper and hang it on your bathroom mirror, so you can look at it every day and tell yourself that you can do it!
The most important thing to remember is to never give up on your job search. Keep looking, keep applying, keep sending your resume and keep a positive and motivated attitude!
